Alex Woodcocks music promotions- what d'ya think?

The indie rock band haunts have a very strong almost theatrical approach to their visual representation, and as such is an integral part of the bands package. I will be doing a live brief designing all the visuals for the forthcoming campaign. This will include the first single artwork, which is set as a limited edition run of 500 vinyl, with high production values and a good budget. Also I will be designing the merchandise which will be sold on their uk tour in support of this release. On top of this I will be looking to design the next following single art work, as well as photoshoots, e-cards websites and perhaps even video. All aspects of this campaign must all tie in together and work cohesively as one theme. All items are set for a full uk release in shops.
This is a few little bits and bobs i been messing around with, to be treated more as a mood board rather than an indication to final projects, but hopefully it might coax out a bit of feedback from somewhere.

I gave the bands myspace a brief overhall, althought i just made it black but i will be making further progress on that as time goes buy. This fitness (or not) can be witnessed atttttttt

You can have a little look about and feast your ears on some bangin choons....So to speak.
Also if your not at a disposition to flashing lights and you got a thing for "lo-fi" you can view the holding page for the website i made
The HAUNTS Webpage

This is just a graphic montage for promotional use, just to get a few feelers out fo the graphic style or presentation

This is a photo shoot that ive art directed with the band, i have the same studio at my disposal for free to do another couple of shoots. For this i got all the props and built the set using fake walls ect.

Just a few logos ive been messing around with.... need much more work.

This is an example of the style of pop i intend to use in the packaging of the gatefold vinyl, although i am awaiting costing production Vs the budget. (obviously to presented in a different graphical style)

Kanika Akinshegun- Promoting a Fashion Designer

Idea:
Glitz, glamour and image shape a large part of society today. Ceremonies which praise and acknowledge celebrities work also largely focuses on what they wear and how they present themselves. Fashion and graphics work alongside each other in terms of promotion. To prove how good graphics can promote great fashion and draw extra attention I shall embark on promoting an up and coming fashion designer who shall appear in a fashion show called "I would like to thank..." held at the end of May. The designer’s pieces are based on the theme of the 'Oscars'

Aims:
To produce promotional material for the designer such as:
-Contact cards
-Posters
-website
-Look book of the designer's work which entails photographing on location.
-packaging for Promotional giveaway at the end of the show
Along side this I shall contact magazines to help platform her work

The outcome should help to establish the designer and draw in potential clients.

I'm working with South Wales independent Record Label, Poisoned Whiskey Records. The Brief is to find solutions open to contribution from people surrounding the music scene in South Wales as well as promote the actual bands themselves. The aim is to encourage the involvement of local photographers, journalists, writers, designers and more involved to contribute work. In creating an outlet for those surrounding the scene as well as the bands then we aim to create an outlet for the creative of South Wales who don’t always get a chance.

From this, the aim is to continue to push the design through to the more mundane aspects of the label to give the label design continuity.

• Posters/Flyers/Stickers
• Merchandise
• Press Packs
• Web Virals

There may also be the opportunity to make a brief DVD presentation and work on the next Poisoned Whiskey Records release.

Oliver Simpson: VJ stock imagery

i am attracted by the relatively recent phenomenon of VJing, i.e. manipulating and projecting visuals to compliment live music. In general, i see a lot of rather crude imagery used for this purpose, and i think that VJs are in need of quality material. I will be producing a set of moving image clips which will be available for public use. Conscious that mainstream contemporary dance music is largely homogenous in its sound, i will create a diverse range of imagery in reaction to this. Clips will be designed to work as layers, making it possible to build complex visual structures. I will incorporate live action footage, animation (possibly some 3D work) and still photography, as well as other graphic elements including typography, in order to compile a wealth of imagery. I intend for this material to be used for a live event and will be in contact with professional VJs with whom i can engage.

Mary's Boutique

I have recently contacted one of my favourite brands - Paul's Boutique and enquired about producing a set of design work for them, as apart from their clothing, they do not appear to have any... But, having no graphic representation - tangible or even internet based Paul's Boutique clothing and accessories are highly desirable, selling in both Topshop & Selfridges. Will the introduction of graphic design improve the brand's popularity, its sense of identity and customer experience??

I have been asked to contact them early next week when Paul will be around and we can discuss the matters further. I'm really excited, as I think if they give me a big creative scope I will really enjoy the project. When I know more details I will let y'all know!

So after meeting Geff, the idea for my FMP has been resolved. I will be taking on the role as the curator of a legal Wall of Fame for Chelsea. For fourteen weeks I will be organising numerous graffiti writers from as far and wide as possible to come down and paint an allocated wall, each time filming the productions in order to display at the Final Show. At the end of the fourteen weeks a possible round up is for me to paint the wall myself getting three writers to judge whether I have learnt anything above my own abilities.
The aim of this project is to bring the graffiti writers out of the shadows and to display their creativity. This also brings the recognition of the art form to Chelsea.
