Nesting dolls are well known and most popular among all Russian souvenirs. The most famous one is called "matryoshka".
The first Russian doll was born in 1890 and was made as a toy for children. The first dolls and traditional ones are those that look like a young Russian woman dressed in Russian native costume with a scarf on her head. But as time went by and social and political situation in Russia changed, matryoshka drammaticly evolved too. Some of them even gained the look of some of the most influential people in the history of Russia. Looking back at all matryoshka's various images, it is possible to track the political, social and cultural changes in the counry.
The phenomenon of matryoshka always fascinated me that is why i have decided to do project on thise topic.
For the final piece i was thinking to produce a series of posters which will show the changes in matryoshka's appearance reflecting the changes in Russian history.
There i want to show a rough example of how matryoshka has been changing through the years depending on the situation in Russia.

Another russian doll project? And isn't there another project that deals with russian culture already?
I might be wrong, but i thought i heard GTS say you can't 'just' do posters for your FMP unless it has a proper purpose (like Ravi's). I might be wrong but do check that out
