My FMP has expanded to include a live brief which I'll be working on alongside my vending machine. The client is Artforum, a UK based gift and home accessories company who commissioned me to design a set of 6 japanese street fashion dolls. These are a continuation of their existing range of 'Momiji Dolls' which are available in retailers including Paperchase and John Lewis.
I'm currently coming up with ideas for packaging and peripherals (stickers, tags, illustrations). The client is very excited to have this project as part of the Chelsea Show. Ana, please let me know if it's possible to include this as a piece in the 'freelance' section of the Brighter Journal. There's a chance their PR agency may contact you.
On the subject of my vending machine, I'm going with recognisable human characters (the two shown above, and currently working on a 'Chavtastic' series). I'd be really grateful for any suggestions people might have about what other characters they'd like to see in the machine. These could be famous people, stereotypes, historical etc (better still would be a 'collective' title which groups a particular series together). Ideas?

wow Joanna thats really cool. At least the two projects link together too so thats good. I don't think you should do famous people though as this has been over done with toys. I think stereotypes is best, good luck x

Hey Jo!!! I love love love whatcha doing!! I can see youre having lots of fun as it is reflected in your careful bubbly and bold style. I like the celebs, even tho michelle might be right with the stereotypes, but the only thing is, there might not be enough different 11 stereotypes 4 u 2 do. if you stick wit celebs, do jessica simpson and nick lachey!!! (with a broken heart behind them of course). And brad & angelina!!! Mary xxxx
Jo!!! me too!! makes me smile everytime I see your drawings, and the thought of having them in a machine at the show... it's going to be great!!
I like the celebs, they are everywhere.. in all the magazines; at the supermarket or wherever there are mags. On the newspapers all over the floors of the tubes... cann't not see them, so i guess they would be collectable, in a gashapon way. Barbie size is much more freaky I think, yours have a twist. Love the removable wig for Britney.
well, I'm going to buy one for sure :D
about this being your final major project and also appearing in the freelance bit might be a bit repetitive no? but we sure can mention it, as an example. it's up to the judges

Thanks Ana! I definitely don't want to become repetitive...so it doesn't need to be mentioned twice (you could use my vending machine as the FMP). But I'd love to get some coverage for this somewhere in the journal *fingers crossed*.
