Environmentally Graphic

The focus of my FMP is the relationship a designer has with the environment-both digitally and naturally. Graphics is a tangible form for communication, something you see, touch, interact with and take away with you, it is a narrative on society-its needs and its wants. My project looks to archive this narrative in an initially print based manner, focusing on the environmental crisis we currently face.

The project would be about connecting people, working together is far more effective then apart. The outcome would be in the format of a book with pages that transform into things you can use/interact with to aid the environment or to raise awareness/ make a social observation or comment about it. I want the outcome to be simplistic and clear but beautifully made and preciously put together as the environment is.
I would look to involve environmentally conscious practises as my critical mass to view my working progress such as the big ask, Howie's,etc.

To clarify:
-Aims to observe and utilise graphic responsibilty through its processes, to draw attention to environmental crisis.
-To display a range of skills through the book from print to layout, product design etc
-Indicate a vocational area-ethical graphics/charities etc
-To produce a beautiful interactive book that uses print, paper craft, photography, illustration etc

hi, i think an interactive book would be a beautiful outcome-it may be difficult to produce solutions to the environment issues however?

They would not be solutions-but things that aid the 'healing' process as it were. By collaborating with charities-etc like the big ask etc i think i would be able to discuss viable options.

yeah sounds good. Would be refreshing to see a book that isn't a load of poorly designed boring facts.

I think this could be a gorgeous piece of work. I think last year someone created something quite similar however in making an interactive book but that was more to get people involved with graphics at a young age I think.(not too sure). The topic is different to this and relevant however so go for it. Maybe put a few pics up to show examples.

The enviromental angle reminds me of a book I saw in Magma recently highlighting deforestation of the Amazon. It's called At this rate, designed by Matt Willey of Studio 8.
It's a starkly beautiful book with simple photography, type and layout.
Could be helpful?...

Nearly getting this(?), however your project description is still rather too florid and over-compicated. To help me really understand and approve...can you give me clear and concise examples of your editorial content, ie:
Page/s...message...3d element...what this will achieve and why.

The book will be made up of the following chapters looking at individual sections of environmental issues. The design of the book will be key in putting across a message of urgency-a need for attention to detail. This will achieve a greater desire amongst the population to engage with environmental issues because they won’t simply be bombarded with scientific language that bores them-but visual responses to the issues we face. It’s using the power of graphics to engage and depict our fragile environment. The book would be made from recycled materials and environmentally friendly printing techniques in-keeping with the theme.

Chapters: Made up of visual responses to what, where, when and why.
