Hasina Daniel - Juiced

Brief:

As Britain is becoming the fattest country within Europe. The debate of healthy eating has provoked many thoughts and campaigns through the nation. ‘Juices take the fizz out of cola’ Metro 7th March 07.

I have been given the opportunity to create the branding identity for a potential Juice Bar, which is aiming to open in the summer.

The outcome of this project will help to promote awareness of ‘Juiced’ and generate a brand interest, which would be recognised as a well established household name, a place where individuals congregate to unwind, as the client is hoping to open up a chain of shops.

Potential names:
Juiced, Juiced Solutions

Motivation
I have always been interested in the healthy eating debate and also at some point in my life I would like to own my own business; I feel this project would give me an informative insight as to what the graphical process for doing so would be.

Aim
To create a vibrant, memorable brand identity (the next Starbucks?). Test whether good graphics plays an important role in attracting interest from potential customers into the establishment.

Is there a system to graphically promote healthy eating commercially without all the common clichés?

What I will produce

Name
Signage
Stationery – Business Cards/Letterheads
Logo
Slogan
Posters
Possible website design
Marketing (help promote awareness of the brand to generate interest.)
Promotion

Also after seeing some of my work, I have also been asked to design some surface designs for the interior.

Feedback appreciated

juice bars becoming the next starbucks- i can definately see that. i just imagine your kings road shopper with a container of 'juiced' juice after spending 1000s of pounds shopping.
obesity as we all know is a current debate so juice bars could be seen as a witty way to approach it.

Hi Hassie, are they definately going to open? You don't want to do 12 weeks work for nothing! Who are they owned by? If it's someone with a solid background in the catering industry then all well and good, but if this is a first timer with lack of funds then there might be a problem, i.e client doing a runner!

Christine

p.s. insist on free juices for life!

Hi Christine,

The client is a first timer (everything is being done from scratch) and the issues that you have aroused are ones that I have been debating with myself. I’ve spoken to her; she wants the branding to coincide with the overall production of the juice bar. It would be fantastic if she was somebody with a solid background in the industry, however I can only really take her word for it that she’ll be opening in the summer.

I am still considering other ideas for my FMP, but though I should put this idea on the blog to generate thoughts from the group.

Thanks for your comments guys, I really appreciate it.

Hi Hasina! There's a relatively new juice bar chain that just opened which might be worth researching as 'industry competitors'. They have a very 'pop' branding, lots of bright colours and vectory stuff. There's a branch on Oxford Street (the side opposite Selfridges...somewhere between Bond Street and Marble Arch). This just proves that 'designer juice' is definitely something that's happening at the moment. The name is frustratingly slipping my mind, it's called JuiceIT or Juicifix or something equally predictable!

As christine I'm just concerned about this being a waste of time for your FMP. Is there any way of confirming it's gonna open? Like , is the place already bought and being decorated, such and such? Other than that sounds great!

Hi Guys,

Spoke to client over the weekend, brought up the questions that have arisen from your comments. I was aware that she was a first timer but automatically assumed that the premises had been “sign, sealed and delivered” as they say.
Like you have mentioned I don’t want to commit to a project that I’m not 100% sure will meet our deadline. The branding is something that I can do at a later date.

I’ve also been thinking that maybe there is a project within this idea that excludes the branding a juice bar. Every time I turn on the TV health and food always seem to be the topic of discussion.

Here is an article I found recently, which relates back to the first comment I received:

I’m looking into every angle.

Thanks again for your comments guys.

it will be a shame to give up on the idead. but what you should keep looking into is the idea of the healthy eating thing BUT do stay away of it being corny and be careful because it has been tackled so get a great angle from it. good luck
